Abstract

Viksit Bharat 2047 wants to create a society that has a prosperous rural infrastructure. Improved access to roads throughout rural India’s villages will create better opportunities for economic growth and support agricultural development. To help enhance the development of infrastructure for rural citizens, the Government of India has established the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), which focuses on the development of rural roads to connect individual villages to a greater network of infrastructure, providing opportunities for increased trade, improved access to education and health facilities, and social-economic enhancement. This article describes the three phases of PMGSY, along with discussing how it has impacted the socio-economic fabric of the region it will be constructing and enhancing its long-term impact will continue to be felt. It explores various challenges and emphasizes the need for efficient project management. By analysing data sourced from various secondary references, the article offers insights into the program’s achievements and highlights areas necessitating further attention to secure enduring rural connectivity and development within the framework of PMGSY.
